Wellness Photography

As a photographer, yogi and a teacher, I find it essential to recognize the influential role and responsibility my work plays on the community. Through the lens of my camera or guiding a yoga practice, I have the ability to shape perceptions, inspire mindfulness and foster a community based on the timeless teachings of yoga. My passion is to create content that uplifts, educates, and promotes well-being.

I look to combine visual storytelling and the ancient wisdom of yoga in Sunrise Sessions 108. Here, I feel it’s a duty to create content that transcends aesthetics but dives deep into the human connection and spiritual evolution. I aim to visually evoke the journey of self discovery and transformation. To teach how we are woven together not only from the world wide web but a deeper web of energy that lies within each and every sentient being.

It has been an honour to capture the yogis and wellness professionals in these layouts and the essence of their teachings.

Each individual brings a unique perspective, expertise, and teaching style to their practice, reflecting the diversity of the wellness community.

Not one modality is the absolute. Everyone desires something that provides a deep sense of connection whether it is yoga, pilates, biking or weight training. What ever it is, I reach to encapsulate the qualities that make each teacher resonate deeply with others.Every photo becomes a testament to the authenticity, passion, and soulful dedication that these practitioners work so long at achieving. Each practitioner brings their own unique journey, physical capabilities, and emotional state to the photo session. As the photographer I look to create a safe and sacred space throughout the session where one feels supported, respected and comfortable to shine in their authenticity in every frame it capture.

My wellness life

The other day, I was talking to some of my students. It was my birthday and I had had a sudden realisation wash over me like a gentle wave. It dawned on me that I have been practicing and teaching for three decades.

Mine is a journey that has unfolded alongside my pursuits of dancing/acting and photography. Yoga has saved my life and my careers more than once. Memories flooded back to me as I left the studio. The thrill of performing on stage, the exhilaration of capturing moments through my camera lens and the profound joy of sharing the transformative power of yoga with others.

I have to say it felt a little surreal to comprehend the passage of time and the depth of experiences woven into each part of my multifaceted career. I cannot envision one without the other. But in the midst of the hustle and bustle of my life’s adventures, I realised my unwavering passion for creativity, expression, and connection. Yoga is a way of life and so is my photography. I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the journey that has led me here and a renewed commitment to continue to nurturing the intersecting paths of my passions with love, dedication, and authenticity.

“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary project, all your thoughts break bonds; your mind transcends limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new, great and wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive, and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to ever be.”

Patanjali

I started practicing in 1987, I started teaching in 1992 and I started my photography business in 2004.

I am plant based and strive for a healthy balance in life everyday. But, I eat chocolate, love potato chips and drink wine on occasion. Being a yogi does not mean you can’t enjoy life.

I studied photography in university but dancing and acting took over naturally. Photography became a hobby for years before I dove into CEC. Asthanga Yoga (The Eight Fold Path) helped me calm myself down and excel in auditions.

I used to be able to wrap my leg around my head and stand on one finger. LOL. Basically I could, but now I can’t and I don’t even want to. I can teach you how to but I love how my practice has unfolded over the years.

I believe that breath work is our fountain of youth. You should practice it everyday and if you don’t know how…I will teach you!

I love animals and planting flowers. I love stand up paddleboard yoga (SUP Yoga) and traveling. I love capturing beautiful places and amazing people. I feel immense gratitude that I get to do them all.
