Golfers golf….rain or shine! A fact I witnessed last Saturday at the First Annual Seaside Rotary Golf Tournament.
It didn’t stop the amazing group of volunteers who put this event together either!
The purpose of the fundraising tournament was to help improve the lives and prospects of Playa Del Carmen’s less advantaged children. Partnering with KKIS (Keep Kids in School), Casa Yoliguana (a facility for young unwed mothers and mothers to be) and Christmas Dreams (an organizationthat provides Christmas gifts to children who would otherwise go with out).
Golfers young and old came out to play and have fun for these great causes and a chance at the $5,000peso Grand Prize!
Sponsors included Barro Negro, Costa Realty and Gustavo Calderon~Attorney, Buy Playa, Bric Vacation Rentals, Vimex Vacation Rentals, Weber Grills and Angel’s Mystery Sponsor, NAS Property Management and Greater Good Solutions and Buenos Aires Restaurant.
It was a fun filled day on the course! A Texas Scramble format, a chance to beat a Professional Golfer and the Gala Prize ceremony and luncheon afterwards.
The Rotary Club of Playa Del Carmen Seaside is Playa’s newest english speaking Rotary with 34 members that include a mix of Mexican nationals, North and South American expatriats both men and women. Their common bond is the desire to “give back” to the community they’ve chosen to call home.
In between the rain drops the tournament was a great success, great fun with friends and a great game of golf!
